Who is Joya?

"Pink haired songbird" Joya is a a multilingual, independent artist and technologist - she creates folk‑tinged, lyrically driven, confessional indie pop that explores identity, queerness, and in‑between moments.

She debuted her second EP Afterglow in March 2024. It quietly reached over 260,000 organic streams in its first month thanks to word‑of‑mouth support. She became the first artist from Hong Kong to appear on the global cover of Spotify’s GLOW campaign and has been featured as a Spotify RADAR and EQUAL Artist. Press highlights include SCMP, Tatler, TimeOut, MTV Asia, Mixmag Asia, and RTHK.

Live, she brings the same charisma and emotional presence with performances at Pizza Express Live Soho (London), The Jago Dalston (London), Soho House (Hong Kong), Hong Kong’s first Pride at Apple (as host and performer) Music Matters (Singapore), Club Bbang (Seoul), PhoenixFest40, and Pink Dot’s 10th anniversary (as MC and performing artist). She’s also previously worked with National Geographic’s Oceans Tomorrow Project, Aesop’s Queer Library Campaign, and The Orchestra Academy of Hong Kong.

In 2025 she made her UK debut with shows in London. A national radio feature on Jazz FM is set for December.

With a voice for connection and a vision for change, she champions representation for the global Asian diaspora.
