Joya is an independent artist, singer-songwriter currently based in Hong Kong. Her songs are melodic diary entries of real stories, from real people, with elements of herself braided in.
In their specificity, Joya reaches her listeners in a way that’s intimate, relatable, and yet far-reaching - the way you’d imagine your story as told by a friend.
Joya identifies as a third-culture kid, queer, Christian, and a number of other things, but most importantly - “not one thing”.
Featured as an upcoming artist by MTV Asia, RTHK, SCMP, Tatler , other Joya projects include performing at Music Matters (Singapore), at the AXA x Wonderland Main Stage for PhoenixFest40, hosting and performing for "Today at Apple" at Hong Kong's first ever Pride event, Club BBang (Korea), writing and performing for the National Geographic Oceans Tomorrow Project, Aesop’s Queer Library Campaign, The Orchestra Academy of Hong Kong at Freespace West Kowloon, and more.
Joya is also a Spotify RADAR HK Artist (2024).
She also speaks and moderates on topics such as diversity and inclusion, LGBTQ+, and women in tech.
Her music is an extension of her beliefs in the importance of inclusion, diversity, and the conversations that move us in that direction.
Joya is a modern‑day renaissance woman. A multilingual, independent artist and technologist based between London and Hong Kong, she creates folk‑tinged, lyrically driven, confessional indie pop that explores identity, queerness, and in‑between moments.
She debuted her second EP Afterglow in March 2024. It quietly reached over 260,000 organic streams in its first month thanks to word‑of‑mouth support. She became the first artist from Hong Kong to appear on the global cover of Spotify’s GLOW campaign and has been featured as a Spotify RADAR and EQUAL Artist. Press highlights include SCMP, Tatler, TimeOut, MTV Asia, Mixmag Asia, and RTHK.
Live, she brings the same charisma and emotional presence with performances at Pizza Express Live Soho (London), The Jago Dalston (London), Soho House (Hong Kong), Hong Kong’s first Pride at Apple (as host and performer) Music Matters (Singapore), Club Bbang (Seoul), PhoenixFest40, and Pink Dot’s 10th anniversary (as MC and performing artist). She’s also previously worked with National Geographic’s Oceans Tomorrow Project, Aesop’s Queer Library Campaign, and The Orchestra Academy of Hong Kong.
In 2025 she made her UK debut with shows in London. A national radio feature on Jazz FM is set for December.
With a voice for connection and a vision for change, she champions representation for the global Asian diaspora.
